Instagram feeds are some of the most fun, but addicting places on the internet. Screen times seem higher than ever- take it from someone with a 5 hour average for screen time. This average is not solely from social media, but I often find myself reaching my 2 hour limit for my daily screen time and clicking “15 more minutes” repeatedly. I tend to gravitate towards “doom scrolling” when I am feeling overwhelmed and nervous. In reality, I should be utilizing better coping skills, but in the meantime I try to follow influencers that don’t further my negative feelings or emotions. Try following the influencers below to retrain your Instagram algorithm to help fix your anxiety.

First and foremost follow us at SERENE STRENGTH on all socials!

We post content about day to day life, workout plans, and good reminders and motivation for wherever you are on your anxiety free fitness journey.

  1. Leana Deeb
    1. I first followed Leana at the very beginning of my lifting journey 4 years ago. As a baby freshman in college who was lacking in exercise, I saw an instagram reel about Leana and immediately began to look up to her. Her physique and gritty approach to the gym resonated with me, and became someone I looked to for programming. For about a year my leg days were an exact copy of one of her very first posts I saw. I got crazy results. I have loved watching her transform into the the beautiful person she is today. Her modesty journey in becoming a Hijabi has been incredible to follow. I still have a picture of her on my vision board from freshman year from before she decided to wear a hijab in the gym. Leana continues to amaze me in her dedication to both her religion and in her physical health. Consider following Leana for program information, motivation, and community that is centered around taking care of your body and glorifying your creator.
  2. Shae Rasmussen (protein_predator)
    1. Shae, or the Protein Predator as I have known her, has quickly become one of my favorite accounts to follow on instagram. She is different from most women fitness influencers in her approach, as she is a current University student. Seeing her journey and progress throughout her fitness career, as well as her cool gym style and motivating content as a student really brightens my day. Her account always helps me to remember to fuel my body with protein and good food if I want to be strong. She also is an amazing example of what it means to bring her personality into her content instead of just posting things like everyone else. I love her gym outfits and hairstyles, she seriously rocks.
  3. Nick Roemer (Nick.liftsss)
    1. Nick is a current exercise science student and is all about holistic lifting and health. He has been on a journey to recover from different injuries over the past couple of years, and his athletic approach to lifting is something I look for in fitness content. He works a lot on jumping and being explosive, which is not super common in content. His approach to nutrition is interesting- he is very passionate about raw milk- however, the rest of his content aligns well with what we love at SERENE STRENGTH. He lifts, exercises, and eats certain supplements and foods to fuel his body and mind to be his best self. Nick’s discipline and dedication to getting stronger and only fueling his body with the highest quality ingredients while on a budget is so amazing and inspirational!
  4. Michael Smoak (higherupwellness)
    1. Smoak is a bit more of an intense account to follow, but what he has to say is extremely valuable. His motivation and mentality content is often just the thing I need to hear to turn the light on in my head. Smoak’s no-nonsense approach to fitness and wellness can seem anxiety inducing at first. But, I believe that by cutting through the “fluff” that can sometimes surround discussions about discipline is truly refreshing. People with anxiety, but especially women with anxiety can get caught in our own heads. We come up with a million excuses and reasons as to why we can’t or shouldn’t take care of ourselves. In all reality, we are our own worst enemies every time. Our presumptions of environment, our perception of ourselves, our own per-conceived notions as to what it means to be well are what keeps us from improving our lives. Smoak also considers going to the gym and movement as an aspect of personal hygiene which I believe to be not only true, but life changing.
  5. Hannah Heidel (nourisheddgirl)
    1. Hannah’s account does not revolve around lifting or the gym, but instead has a gorgeous approach to wellness and the nourishment of your mind through her quotes. She has shared her own personal journey with anxiety and acknowledges that sometimes medication is not something to be ashamed of. Many people in the wellness space are incredibly anti-pharma for finding physical or mental health solutions. It is lovely to see Hannah’s vulnerability regarding her journey, she is currently getting her masters in Holistic Nutrition Science. Her weekly reminders and quotes can be repeated as mantras and give my Instagram feed the necessary shift towards intentional mindfulness whenever I see her content.
  6. The Psychology of your 20s
    1. This podcast is one of my go to spaces to learn more about why I am the way that I am. Their content is perfectly curated for those who are in school and graduating / are recently graduated. Knowing you aren’t alone with burnout, confusion, and choices is so comforting. I especially appreciate their “day in the life” content, where they have viewers write out their day to day schedule. Seeing what other people are doing with their lives, that they’re struggling with the same things I am, and learning how people in different fields get through the day helps with imposter syndrome. I often feel like I am on the wrong path, but this page’s content helps to remind me that my path is my own and therefore the one for me.
  7. Mikayla Mailhes
    1. Mikayla is one of my most recently followed influencers, she is a type 1 diabetic and crushing the game. Like I mentioned previously, athetic training is a game changer. Mikayla’s programming revolves around athleticism and I am so here for it. Her physique is increidble and inspirational, and she always has amazing gym outfits. She recently hit bulgarian split squats with 95 lbs. dumbells… in each hand… she is so awesome and strong and everything I want to be. She has programs available for purchase, and I simply love when her videos show up on my feed. I am in awe of her.
  8. Emy Moore (saved not soft)
    1. Emy Moore’s content in her Saved not Soft podcast has been transformative in my spiritual health. I think that when we curate our Instagram algorithm, it is vital to include content that helps us grow on our walks with the Lord. She doesn’t have any fitness content, but her advice and teachings about walking in Faith is worth a follow.
  9. Haley Cordova (fueled by fitness)
    1. Haley has a tough love approach to fitness content. She has a lot of cool recipes and meal inspiration as well as advice for lifting. She is also available for one on one coaching if that is something you are looking for. Her content is often centered around food, and could be great for those who are anxious about their eating habits.
  10. PRAY.COM
    1. Pray.com is an app that you may have noticed in my morning in the life blogs. I try to listen to their podcast “The Bible In a Year” every morning, which takes you through a bible story with a more theatrical and engaging approach. It has seriously helped improve my anxiety as I start my day off with the Lord. Their Instagram content is also worth a follow, as they post scriptures and great reminders throughout the week.

Fun fact! This website is all for a grade! I am currently enrolled in a class that is working on inbound marketing. If you would consider checking out my other pages, filling out the forms, and joining our EXCLUSIVE newsletter, that would sincerely appreciate it <3
